How to find the right self-help group
Since you have found your way to the pages of the ApK Berlin, you might be a friend or relative looking for exchange with others. In this case, have a look at our self-help groups – which are currently all run in German – or contact us directly. We are happy to advise you, answer any questions and help you find a group that suits your needs.
Have you noticed that terms like bipolar, depression, schizophrenia, psychosis, borderline, PTBS and so forth are rarely to be found on these pages? There is a reason for this. The association is committed to promoting a view of individual humans as just that: individual humans. Diagnosis are considered secondary. We experience people first and foremost in the roles they have in our lives: as our mothers and fathers, our brothers and sisters, our children, friends or neighbours. For this reason, most self-help groups of the ApK are organised based on the kind of relationship one has to the people affected by psychological issues. There are groups of parents of people with psychological problems, groups of their partners, children and siblings.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are happy to support you should you wish to found a new group, especially in languages other than German.
